Overview
WSO2 Summit is a global industry event for C-suite executives and enterprise architects in technology. Featuring interactive discussion sessions, the event takes place in cities around the world, bringing together thought leaders to share insights and strategies.

Client Requirement
Design a visually engaging and culturally relevant event website for the WSO2 Summit Brazil, appealing to C-suite executives and enterprise architects. Ensure consistent branding across the website and all marketing collateral, while delivering a fully responsive design optimised for both desktop and mobile users.

Challenge
Working with a geographically distant team required balancing WSO2’s global brand standards with local Brazilian cultural preferences. The project involved close collaboration with the Brazil-based account managers, product owners, and events team, as well as local printing agencies, to ensure visual consistency across digital and printed materials. Coordination with internal developers was essential to maintain design fidelity during implementation. Managing time zone differences, multiple stakeholder inputs, and tight event deadlines added to the project’s complexity.

Don't just take my word for it

Kushlani De Silva
Former Director of Marketing WSO2
When I think of individuals who go the extra mile, Ru is one of the first people that come to mind. Her deep analytical skills, attention to detail, and commitment to perfection continues to grow and improve. One of the things I find most impressive about Ru is how she has progressed from being a designer to a thought leader, providing valuable guidance and input to her peers.

Ru would be an immensely valuable asset to any team, not only as a designer, but as someone who will thoroughly understand the market and audience, and commit to delivering accordingly."
Design process
I’ve illustrated the design process for this project in the diagram below. I took the lead from steps 3 to 9 and for steps 12,14, and 16 - delivering the designs at each stage and communicating with the team in Brazil and a printing agency in Brazil.

Design layout
I started this project by conducting some background research about competitor websites, design trends, Brazilian culture, and the requirements of the team members in Brazil. I created the design theme and web page layout following this background research. The design theme was modified according to the feedback provided by the team members in Brazil.

The top banner displays the theme of the event, with the corresponding graphics following the main design theme.

Development stage
I developed 6 pages together with the home page. After we finalized the content and web page, the web page went live.

Reflections
The project gave me the opportunity to work with printing agencies in Brazil. These printing agencies often required the working file with the breathing space. Usually, this is quite a time consuming process, so I saved a template for future use.
